9th Scandinavian Congress of Medicine and Science in Sports
Announcing the 9th Scandinavian Congress of Medicine and Science in Sports, which will be held in Stavanger, which is otherwise known as the "Oil Capital" of Norway, will play host to the congress between the 6th and 9th November. 2008 is a significant year for Stavanger, as it has also been chosen together with Liverpool as a European Capital of Culture. Stavanger offers a fantastic blend of old and new, there is much to see and do from the old town of "Gamle Stavanger" to paying a visit to one of the many gourment restaurants that inhabit the harbour area. Sport and recreation do play an important role in the local community from surfing at Bore Beach, to cheering on the local football team "Viking Stavanger" or indeed the international grand slam beach volleyball tournament which is played annually in the harbour every summer.
The SCMSS 2008 program will focus in the main:
The congress will consist of lectures given by national and international speakers, practical workshops and sponsor provided exhibitions. The SCMSS 2008 will also offer an extensive evening entertainment programme, all participants will have the chance to meet old friends and make new contacts.
